- There are several comics that almost share name with at least one other comics.
- Sometimes this is because they are related in a direct series, where it is just a number (part number) that changes, but this is not the case with all series.
- But a few comics actually share the exact same name, without being directly in a series (sorted after oldest pair, i.e. the 2nd comic's age):
- 786: Exoplanets and 1071: Exoplanets.
- Both images were originally named exoplanets.png. When the second one was published this broke the first one, which was then renamed exoplanets_2010.png.
- 60: Super Bowl and 1480: Super Bowl.
- No images broke because one ends in .jpg and the other in .png.
- 827: Business Idea and 1721: Business Idea.
- When the latter was released the image file and the comic title where the same and there was a conflict on xkcd (and on this site, see more here).
- The first original comic was then renamed 827: My Business Idea by Randall. He had to rename both the image file and the comic title to fix the conflict on xkcd.
- 786: Exoplanets and 1071: Exoplanets.

- All comics that thus share name with only up to one different character are listed here.
- Exception is made for instance if:
- The plural form changes more than just adding an "s", like for baby vs. babies,
- A word is split in two words in one comic's name and not the other like Flow Charts vs Flowchart, where also the plural is changed.

- For true series, however, where a number is added after the title, then only the series, not the individual comics are listed (for those that already have their own category of course).
- There are still some series like that which has not had a category created. This may be a mistake, since there are comic series with just two comics that have their own category like the Well series.
- Finally there is a series of new year comics with the year changing to match the new years number.
- So far it seems they only appear every 2nd new year...
- If this series continue until 2020, then that comic should still be listed here, even though two numbers change...
