More BAD news: I still have to figure out the reason for error messages like this: "Error code 0:  at /opt/xkcd/xkcdtest.pl line 104." What the hell is "Error code 0"??? :Error code 0 is the default exit value in perl. It seems like you're terminating the script at line 104. It's a natural exit though, so it's probably part of your error checking.
