Throwing away dishes is probably less practical that cooking directly on a stove. So it goes: Obvious tip (thermometer), Obvious tip (dishes), Obvious tip (stove), Really crazy obvious tip (hose in freezer, punchline), Further grossout title text (TP waste). My first inclination was that this was a meta joke on Randall's [http://www.explainxkcd.com/wiki/index.php/Category:My_Hobby My Hobby] series. The more I looked at it the more I think it is a progression from Practical to Impractical (Y-axis) and Plausible to Implausible (X-axis). It is both practical and plausible to check meat without a meat thermometer making the comment a true tip. [[Cueball]] and [[Megan]] are apparently playing a game in which they name all of the elements in some category. Megan is supposed to name all of the {{w|Spice Girls}}, a pop group whose nicknames were "Posh Spice" ({{w|Victoria Beckham}}), "Sporty Spice" ({{w|Melanie C|Melanie Chisholm}}), "Scary Spice" ({{w|Mel B|Melanie Brown}}), "Ginger Spice" ({{w|Geri Halliwell}}), and "Baby Spice" ({{w|Emma Bunton}}). Instead, she winds up naming members of other categories (the {{w|Sense#Traditional_senses|five senses}}, the {{w|Kübler-Ross model|five stages of grief}}, and the {{w|Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse}}), with "Spice" tacked on the end. In the final panel, she comes close, but says words that are phonetically similar to the correct answer (Pog, Story, Sarah, Gender, Baleen).

This seems to be a continuation of [[1417: Seven]], where Megan asks Cueball to name the seven dwarfs. Apparently Megan confuses sets of five just as Cueball can't distinguish between different sets of seven.
