:I think he's only counting the land area. The area between the islands may be creating an illusion that Hawaii is bigger. I believe the first paragraph is incorrect. I did a full comparison, and Texas shrank the most (dropping 41 places from size ranking to alphabetical ranking), while Connecticut as well as Delaware grew the most (each rising 41 places between the lists).
