Just make it enough of a waste of time to start the bot up versus the amount of time it takes for you to clean up so that they give up.  :::You can make it more of a challenge (or worth less) to edit a given behaviour, and less so for acceptable ones. If there's an apparent panacea published then you can be sure that any determined vandal will then deliberately change their attack to avoid being caught/cured by it, because some people are just like that. But it's easier to deal with 'bot issues (per adaptation).

Also, the page is only linked to from the archived discussion, so one can't stumble on it without being aware that it's archived.
