The opening lines of the comic misleads the reader into thinking that Cueball is remembering his partner fondly. The final two lines of the comic instead reveals that Cueball is trying to forget his ex-partner. He states that he has not managed to forget his partner, and so resolves to continue walking to distance himself from them. The title text implies that his (ex-)partner has already forgotten him.

At the beginning of the comic, [[Cueball]] is wandering around in a barren area, supposedly a desert, thinking about his ex-partner, in which he, at first, appears to be fondly remembering her, but the last two boxes explain that he is trying to take a long walk to forget her, and is obviously not very good at it.

The title text implies that his ex-partner had easily forgotten him, and he wishes that he could forget more easily.

Note: When Cueball mentions walking 1000 miles, he is most likely exxagerating, as, due to his lack of hiking/traveling gear, most likely has only walked a hundred or so, either that, or the story is similar in nature, or even in the same universe, as [[505:_A_Bunch_of_Rocks|comic 505]].

At the beginning of the comic, Cueball is wandering around in a barren area, supposedly a desert, thinking about his ex-partner, in which he, at first, appears to be fondly remembering her, but the last two boxes explain that he is trying to take a long walk to forget her, and is obviously not very good at it.

The title text implies that his ex-partner had easily forgotten him, and he wishes that he could forget more easily.

Note: When Cueball mentions walking 1000 miles, he is most likely exxagerating, as, due to his lack of hiking/traveling gear, most likely has only walked a hundred or so, either that, or the story is similar in nature, or even in the same universe, as comic 505.

Transcript

[Cueball is walking through a wasteland talking to himself.]
I am alone in this wasteland, a thousand miles from you.
But I haven't forgotten the feel of your skin, your mischievous smile.
You'd think a thousand miles would be enough.
I guess I'll keep walking.

Discussion

Isn't the meaning of the title text that it's so difficult to forget her that forgetting anything else is easy in comparison? -- Bonob (talk) (please sign your comments with ~~~~)

Possibly? Or maybe she is the one who forgot that he existed in a heartbeat, making forgetting someone "look so easy"Viperzer0 (talk) 18:02, 20 April 2018 (UTC)

The headline "Wasteland" may also refer to the state of the life of the speaker, wasting away. Mountain Hikes (talk) 04:30, 7 October 2015 (UTC)

This is clearly not a reference to any What If? article whatsoever, as the first one was posted five years after this comic. As such, I have removed it. 172.70.134.92 01:28, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
