Unicode, the computing standard for text encoding, is referenced in some comics.

Randall pokes fun at uses of Unicode, such as left-to-right embedding (1137), the interrobang (1209), URL handling (1700), and The Emoji Movie (1857). He also suggests nonexistent codes, such as the eye of a basilisk (380), snake justification (1676), and the vomiting modifier (1813).
