Amelia Earhart was an American aviation pioneer and writer. She was the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean and set numerous aviation records. In 1937, during an attempt to circumnavigate the globe in an airplane, Earhart and her navigator vanished over the central Pacific Ocean near Howland Island. Despite extensive investigations and ongoing public interest, their disappearance remains unresolved, but the prevailing belief is that they died during the flight.
