Barrel Boy is a stick figure character in xkcd. "Barrel" is an early series of five comics, whose parts were randomly published during the first several dozen strips. The series features a character that is not consistent with what would quickly become the xkcd stick figure style. The character is in a barrel.

At some point, Randall created a page with a collection of all the Barrel comics (as well as the first comic with the flying ferret: 20: Ferret, which is in this way also became a part of the Barrel series). This page can still be seen on a web archive: The Boy and his Barrel.

That bottom image on the what if? article Niagara Straw features Beret Guy riding in a barrel, which may be a reference to these comics.
