The Voyager spacecraft has reached the outer boundaries of the Solar System, which, is divided into sections, such as, the 'heliosphere'. If this were a real, typical, digital image, brightness gradations would show up, in a 'darker to lighter' progression, like, in this graphic. The joke, is, that, those gradations actually exist in space!
