The dict addition looks ok, though I'll probably still be using the existing wiktionary one, myself, as it's fairly obvious what-and-where it deals with in the editing source. (It's one of the reasons I prefer not to see fact, in place of the Citation needed one, though that's aliased from one to the other anyway, as with abbreviations like "cn" and case-alternatives like "Citation Needed", "citation needed", etc.) You could have a look to see if the two types differ, of course, and then set yours up as a quick-redirect to the latter, after making that the "best of all features from both" if applicable.... ;) 172.70.85.123 19:00, 24 January 2024 (UTC)

:Whoops -- I didn't realize the Wiktionary one already existed, I was looking for something like it in the Templates category. I'll add that category to the page. I wonder if we should delete the one I created, and if so, how we go about petitioning an admin to do that? --Raviolio (talk) 19:08, 24 January 2024 (UTC)

::I'm not going to complain about it. The number of times I've known there's a template for something and had to scan the whole list to find out what it's actually called (or cased as...) is uncountable. I wouldn't delete it, just (after checking for full equivalence, as I said) making yours a #REDIRECT to the other. Or vice-versa, but I would prefer for the often-used one to remain the primary for various reasons.

::Ok, so "wiktionary" is more to type than "dict" (and too easy to accidentally and wrongly reduce to just w for an accidental wikipedia quick-link - been there, done that!) but it's how I'd do it. Template:dict

Whoops -- I didn't realize the Wiktionary one already existed, I was looking for something like it in the Templates category. I'll add that category to the page. I wonder if we should delete the one I created, and if so, how we go about petitioning an admin to do that? --Raviolio (talk) 19:08, 24 January 2024 (UTC)
I'm not going to complain about it.
Ok, so "wiktionary" is more to type than "dict" (and too easy to accidentally and wrongly reduce to just w for an accidental wikipedia quick-link - been there, done that!) but it's how I'd do it. And use it. For aforementioned reasons. But I'm not even a registered editor, so don't take my word as law! 172.71.178.54 19:20, 24 January 2024 (UTC)
