Isn't this tantamount to blackmail: "In 2010 Savage said he would take the site down if Santorum donated US$5 million plus interest to Freedom to Marry"? {{unsigned|Weatherlawyer}} | Isn't this tantamount to blackmail: "In 2010 Savage said he would take the site down if Santorum donated US$5 million plus interest to Freedom to Marry"? {{unsigned|Weatherlawyer}} | ||
:No, blackmail is the practice of withholding information that may be damaging to a person's reputation in return for money. Putting that "information" up on a freely accessible website is pretty much the opposite of withholding it. Maybe it's coercion, but it's a "threat" to leave something up that is already there. I'm not sure if there is a word for it, but "blackmail" isn't it. -Pennpenn [[Special:Contributions/108.162.250.162|108.162.250.162]] 05:45, 14 January 2016 (UTC) | :No, blackmail is the practice of withholding information that may be damaging to a person's reputation in return for money.
