Explain xkcd: It's 'cause you're dumb.

Please don't[edit]

Please do not create pages without an explanation. If you intend to later fill in the explanation, wait until you have the explanation written to create the page. Also, as you create new pages, remember to create the number and title redirects. You can find the links to those on the List of all comics, third column. There is no need to create the talk page as listed in the third column, only if you feel the need to comment on the comic. lcarsos (talk) 06:45, 28 October 2012 (UTC)

Ignore the second bit. It looks like you only forgot for 378: Real Programmers. I've corrected that. Please continue contributing and creating new explanations! lcarsos (talk) 06:49, 28 October 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for explaining my error. I will not create any pages without explanations again. Can you point me to where this guideline - the beginners guide I saw was mostly about how to edit wiki pages, which I already know how to do. I was thinking of the above pages as analagous to stubs on WP which (especially in the early days) helped get things started on a topic.--NHSavage (talk) 08:20, 28 October 2012 (UTC)
There aren't any official rules as yet. I am compiling a style guide which has an etiquette section, which will probably end up being just quirks of this site. The main reason this request came into being is because we have so many do-gooders that come in and click the create link on the list of all comics, think they're done, hit submit and never come by again. It's gotten to the point that the regular editors (pretty much Davidy and myself) swoop in the moment we notice an incomplete page has been created and grumpily fill it out. Which doesn't leave the new editor any time to go and finish their own page if they do plan to come back. So, just to avoid the ravenous beasts that are the haggard editors, try not to create a page that doesn't have an explanation. But, putting in a comment that you'll be back to flesh out the explanation will likely stave us off (though we might still grumble). lcarsos (talk) 14:34, 28 October 2012 (UTC)
