The Core is a 2003 American science fiction disaster film that focuses on a team whose mission is to drill to the center of the Earth and set off a series of nuclear explosions in order to restart the rotation of the Earth's core.

The mission it only possible because of the development on "Unobtainium", a material that can convert extreme heat into electricity, as well as a laser-based high-speed drilling array. And it is also keeping the drilling craft intact as it gets stronger the higher pressure it is exposed to. So with this unobtainable stuff the mission it suddenly possible. Getting into the Earths core is more difficult than getting to the surface of the sun which is again more difficult than getting to Pluto!

Randall has now expressed his dislike and ridiculed the movie in several comics, or at least made references to it more than five times, and with the sixth comic to reference it 2877: Fever it got it's own category.

It is widely considered a contender for "all-time-worst 'science in a movie' winner" so it is not only Randall that has an issue with this!

The first comic about it 673: The Sun, is a direct spoof on The Core, and also manages to mock Daylight saving time another of Randall's pet peeves. Funnily enough the movie Randall made as a spoof in 2005 was made two years later with Sunshine in 2007, and it is probably almost as unrealistic as The Core.
