This comic refers to wall-to-wall carpeting, also known as Fitted carpet, which usually is carpeting that runs from wall to wall. Usually, the carpeting is on the inside[citation needed] of the house where it is installed. However, in this example, Megan and Cueball are installing it on the outside of the house, walking an unstated distance until another wall of another building is encountered.
The title text references skylights, which are windows on ceilings. This implies that they think that they can see sky not because they are outside, but because they think it is a big skylight.

- Hiking trail pavement needs to be sturdy enough to withstand hikers stomping up and down. It also needs to help their hiking boots grip the trail, or at least not do worse at that than bare dirt would. I am not convinced that carpet fits either of those criteria.
