The first April Fools' Day comic to be released on a Tuesday, purposefully deviating from the standard release schedule, was 404: Not Found. Other Tuesday comics deviate from the standard to align with one of Randall's book release, such as 1608: Hoverboard (celebrating the release of Thing Explainer), 2198: Throw (celebrating the release of How To), and 2672: What If? 2 Flowchart (celebrating the release of What If? 2).

***This happened first time on a Tuesday with 1350: Lorenz, apart from the 404: Not Found meta comic.

**Other events (like a tribute, which has not yet happened on a Tuesday) can also result in Tuesday comics.

***This happened first with 1551: Pluto released in honor of the New Horizons deep space probe making its flyby at Pluto.

***Since then it has also occurred with 1608: Hoverboard made to celebrate the release of Randall's new book, Thing Explainer.

***It happened again when How to was released on Tuesday with 2198: Throw.

***And again with another book release for What if? 2. The comic 2672: What If? 2 Flowchart was released on the Tuesday the book was released.

***Tuesdays comic will then be part 2, as can be seen several times.

***It is not all of the series that are mentioned with a part number, as can be seen for Parody and Guest Week.

**The above mentioned exceptions explains all Tuesday comics from 57 and on, except for 2717: L6 Lagrange Point and 2986: Every Scientific Field.

***These could simply be Randall that was too late with the release to call it a Monday comic. But in some cases the date in the archive would be set to the intended release day, even if it was released past midnight (maybe even in all time zones.) But that is not the case with the two unexplained Tuesday release mentioned here.

*There could be incidences where a comic possibly has been mis-categorized.

**The date given should be when posted on xkcd, not here.

**Please check up on this and explain here and at the comic why it has been released on a Tuesday.

Comics by weekday   |   Monday  •  Tuesday  •  Wednesday  •  Thursday  •  Friday  •  Saturday  •  Sunday

Randall usually only posts new xkcd comics every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, as the standard header text says. However, for several reasons, comics have been posted on all weekdays. In the early days of xkcd, it happened frequently, but it has become very rare since LiveJournal closed. Notable exceptions that can lead to off-set release dates, even in the weekend, are April Fools' Day comics, which Randall always tries to publish on April Fools' Day, book releases, which often fall on a Tuesday, and tributes to important people who recently passed away. The other weekdays are typically used in comic series, which sometime extend for five days in one week.
